September-November 2000 - Batken area code changes

Area codes in Batken oblast (region) were changed from 32 to 36. That is, internationally, +996 32 xx xxxxx became +996 36 xx xxxxx. The indication was that this took effect 11 September 2000, with area code 32 (or +996 32) used solely for Osh oblast effective 15 November 2000.

Other minor subscriber number changes also occurred around late 2000.

1995-1997 - change from country code +7 to +996

Withdrew from country code 7 (former USSR territory); ITU assigned country code 996 in September 1995. This code is effective, at least from Canada, effective 1 May 1997. (References: Stentor Tariff Notice 433 as approved by CRTC Telecom Order 97-464). There was no indication regarding any permissive dialling period and if so, when that would end.
