On midnight local time, 4 July 1999, 7-digit subscriber numbers that began with 6xx (from 600-#### through 649-####) were prepended with the digit '2'. That is, subscriber number 649-#### became 2649-####. The old 7-digit subscriber numbers were discontinued after 30 September 1999.
