Area code information

30 June 2001 - national renumbering

All area codes in Slovakia changed on 30th June 2001, at 0159 Slovakia time or 2359 UTC. For example, Bratislava changes from 07 to 02 domestically, or +421 7 to +421 2 for international calling. Standard national subscriber number length will be 9 digits - the 1-digit area code for Bratislava followed by 8-digit subscriber numbers, or 2-digit area codes followed by 7-digit subscriber numbers. Subscriber renumbering to the new standard lengths was completed prior to the national renumbering.

Special services will be reached as 4- or 5-digit short codes of the form 1xxx or 1xxxxx.

For details on the changes, or information on the Slovakian telecom carrier, see the Slovakia Telecom (Slovenské Telekomunikácie) website.

See also an ITU numbering page for Slovakia which contains a link to official Slovakia numbering information documentation (in MS Word format).
