1997-9 Change from 5 to 6 digit national numbers

National numbers were expanded by an extra digit (from 5 digit numbers to 6 digits) as of late 1997.

Conversion of exchanges to 6-digit number capability was scheduled for 1997. 6-digit numbers should be available in all Greenland areas since November 1997. Old 5-digit numbers continue to be accepted for calls within Greenland until 1999.

From other nations, 6-digit numbers can be used for calls to Greenland as of 1 December 1997. 5-digit numbers were no longer be accepted from international points from early 1999.
