Other Information

Eritrea was established by secession from Ethiopia in 1993. Sometime after, new country code 291 came into effect, replacing former Ethiopian territory (country code 251). Also, see carrier TSE website, although there may be little telecom information available as of yet.

The only known area code is 1. GSM 900 mobile ranges were available as of 1 January 2001 (for service in May 2001):

Agordat 71xxxx
Tessenei 72xxxx
Barentu 73xxxx
