The existing 6-digit Mauritel subscriber numbers in Akjoujt, Aleg, Kiffa, Nouadhibou, Nouakchott, Rosso were prepended with the digit '5' to form the new 7-digit national subscriber numbers. '5' is also prepended to the existing 6-digit radio numbers (land and maritime) for Nouadhibou and Nouakchott.
In some areas, a new 3-digit prefix is combined with the last 4 digits of the existing subscriber number to form the new 7-digit national number:
